Garni Temple
Garni Temple, located in Armenia's Kotayk Province, is the only surviving Greco-Roman structure in the region, built in the 1st century AD and dedicated to the sun god, Mihr. Featuring 24 Ionic columns and Hellenistic architecture, it stands as a remarkable testament to Armenia's pre-Christian history. Destroyed by an earthquake in 1679, it was reconstructed in the 20th century using original stones. Set atop a cliff, the temple offers stunning views of the Azat River gorge and surrounding mountains.
Symphony of Stones
The Symphony of Stones is a natural rock formation located in the Garni Gorge of Armenia, near the Garni Temple. It features striking vertical basalt columns that resemble an enormous organ, earning it the name "Symphony of Stones." Formed through volcanic activity and subsequent erosion, these hexagonal pillars create a dramatic and unique landscape. The site is a popular attraction for visitors seeking both geological wonders and breathtaking views.
Geghard Monastery
Geghard Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Armenia, is a stunning medieval complex partly carved into the rock cliffs of the Azat River Gorge. Founded in the 4th century and expanded in the 12th–13th centuries, it is renowned for its intricate rock-cut architecture and spiritual significance. The monastery is named after the holy spear ("geghard") that is said to have pierced Jesus' side and was once kept there. Surrounded by dramatic cliffs and lush nature, Geghard is both a historical and spiritual treasure in Armenia.
Charents Arc
Charents Arc is a stone archway located along the road to Garni, Armenia, offering one of the most breathtaking views of Mount Ararat. Named after the famed Armenian poet Yeghishe Charents, who admired the view from this spot, the arch has become a popular stop for travelers and photographers. Inscribed on the arch are Charents' words celebrating the beauty of the Armenian landscape. The site is cherished for its panoramic views, especially during sunrise and sunset, framing the majestic snow-capped peaks of Ararat.
